Introducing DesignEng Index: a weekly tracker for design-to-code tools

Design-to-code tools change faster than any team can keep up with. In a single week this October, Figma posted its Config India 2026 recap, Webflow added analytics data and a Gemini connector to its MCP server, and v0 shipped downloads in its Code tab. Meanwhile, Motiff and Visily both announced they're shutting down on October 31.

Teams pick tools based on all of this, and keeping up with it is a part-time job. So we built DesignEng Index.

What's in it
  • A directory of 50 tools across design tools, site builders, AI app builders, and AI code editors. Each page has current pricing (with a source and the date we checked it) and what the tool shipped most recently.
  • A weekly "what changed" log at /weekly, where every entry links to the source.
  • Comparisons with a verdict, like Framer vs Webflow, Figma vs Paper, and a four-way Figma vs Paper vs pen.dev vs Penpot.
  • The graveyard, covering 14 tools that shut down, pivoted, got renamed, or went into maintenance mode, each with alternatives. For example, InVision points you to Figma, Miro, and ProtoPie.
Why Meticulous built it

We work across brand, marketing, product, and design engineering. Choosing the stack is now part of design work, and the right answer for a marketing site (Framer or Webflow) is rarely the right answer for a product team working with agents (Figma, Paper, pen.dev, Penpot). The Index is the research we were already doing, published so other people can use it.

It's independent. Some tool links are affiliate links, and they're always disclosed. Affiliate links never change a verdict.
