01 BLUF

The Bottom Line:

02 Our Role

Dashboard UX Design, User Flow Restructuring, Marketing Graphics

03 The Details

Derive Systems is an automotive technology company focused on fleet optimization. Their VQ Platform helps enterprise fleets reduce fuel consumption, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and improve driver safety through ECU calibrations and real-time performance monitoring. With over two million software installations, Derive serves fleets ranging from utilities to government agencies.

The Challenge

Derive's VQ Insight dashboard—the interface fleet managers use to monitor fuel savings and emissions reductions—had foundational UI styling from a previous contractor, but the user flows didn't match how fleet managers actually needed to work. The application was unclear, making it difficult for users to quickly access the metrics that mattered most.

Our Approach

We redesigned the VQ Insight experience to align with real fleet manager workflows, building on the existing visual foundation while restructuring navigation and information hierarchy. The work included the core dashboard experience as well as marketing graphics for web use. We also supported adjacent teams on related design projects to ensure consistency across Derive's product family.

    OUTCOMES
  • The redesigned VQ Insight launched in May 2023, providing fleet managers with clearer visibility into their environmental impact and cost savings.
  • Craig Montgomery, who served as Derive's Chief Revenue Officer during this engagement, later became President of ATI—where we continue to collaborate.
